Wednesday, August 31, 2011 - As everyone knows, Hurricane Irene blasted the East Coast this past weekend.  Strasburg and Providence Townships were no exception.  The Refton Volunteers had crews standing by at the station throughout the entire event to ensure the best possible assistance was right there in case of a call for service.

While standing by in station, the Refton Volunteers handled a total of seven (7) calls for service during the time that Hurricane Irene was in town.  Fortunately, none of the calls for service were severe and no injuries were reported.

Special thanks to everyone in the area (no matter the affiliation) for stepping up and providing an extra amount of service during the storm to ensure all communities were protected.
