Saturday, October 22, 2011 - Last evening at 21:04 Hours, Refton Volunteers were alerted to a vehicle accident with unknown injuries in the 100 block of Pennsy Road in Providence Twp.  Chief 5-9 (Rineer) went enroute and was updated by LCWC of a car that hit a telephone pole with reported wires down and telephone pole sheared.  Chief Rineer arrived on scene and confirmed the same.

Minutes after dispatch, RescueEngine 5-9-1 (Adsitt) went enroute and was advised of the downed wires.  Upon arrival of RescueEngine 5-9-1, crews set up lighting and waited for PP&L to arrive.  Once PP&L arrived it was confirmed that the down power lines were de-energized, crews de-powered the vehicle and handled minor spill control operations.

Once the power lines were secured by PP&L and the vehicle was removed from the scene, company 5-9 went available.  Units operated on scene for roughly two hours.  Luckily, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
