Mid Day Barn Fire Assist to Company 5-10
Feb 14, 2012 - 4:29:40 PM

Tuesday, February 14, 2012 - Yesterday, at 11:17 hours, the Refton Volunteers along with numerous other companies were alerted to a reported barn fire at 222 Georgetown Road in Strasburg Township.  First arriving units reported heavy smoke in the area.  Engine 5-9-1 (Rineer) and Tanker 5-9 (Hicks) made the response minutes after the initial dispatch with full daytime staffing.  Upon arrival of Engine 5-9-1, they were given the assignment of stretching a line off of Truck 5-10 and advancing it to the Charlie/Delta side of the fire building where they operated for the duration of the incident.  Tanker 5-9 upon arrival operated as part of the water supply shuttle to the scene.  Engine 5-9-2 (Bleacher) made the response after being dispatched as part of the second alarm assignment.  Upon arrival, crews on Engine 5-9-2 assisted the crews from Engine 5-9-1.  The Refton Volunteers operated on the fireground for just under 5 hours.  Special thanks to Tanker 5-3 (Conestoga) and Engine 5-12-1 (Willow Street) for standing by for the Refton Volunteers while they were operating on the Scene.  Special thanks also goes out to our Auxiliary for having a wonderful meal ready once the fleet was back in service.

Refton Units on Scene:  Engine 5-9-1, Engine 5-9-2 and Tanker 5-9
