Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - The last two evenings have been busy ones for the Refton Volunteers as on Monday Evening, 15 students enrolled in the Emergency Medical Responder Class had their final written and practical exams and on Tuesday Evening, 13 candidates took the Haz Mat Awareness Pro Board Written Exam.

The Company is very excited to announce that all 15 students passed the Emergency Medical Responder Class.  This enormous addition of trained and qualified responders will greatly compliment the number of EMT's and Emergency Responders who already were certified and will ensure an even greater level of emergency medical care will be given to the community when the Refton Volunteers are called for service.  Special Thanks to Instructor Erich Broome and Code 3 Billing, LLC for helping us through this process.

To date, the candidates who chose to participate in the Hazardous Material Awareness Pro Board Examination have not received word on how they did.  Successful completion of the examination will certify the candidate as a State Certified (and Nationally Certified) Hazardous Materials Awareness Responder.  This testing opportunity was available thru a Grant coordinated by the Lancaster County EMA.  Special thanks to Eric Bachman from the EMA and Dave Gribble from the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center for this fantastic opportunity!

The above opportunities are just a start for the Refton Volunteers.  The Volunteers will begin the DelMar Module 4 in the Essentials of Firefighting Series in April with a Structural Burn Class scheduled in June.  The duration of the summer the Refton Volunteers will be focusing on the Firefighter 1 Prep Class and ensuring all other required classes are satisfied as they are looking to go after challenging the Firefighter 1 Exams in September.  All of this constant hard work is to ensure that the community has the highest trained, best qualified responders to serve them in a time of need.
