Apr 16, 2015 - 11:33:58 AM
Thursday, April 16, 2015 - Yesterday afternoon at 16:54 hours, the Refton Volunteers were dispatched as part of the second alarm assignment along with several other mutual aid companies to assist Company 5 (Strasburg) with a working dwelling fire on Martin Lane is Strasburg Township. First arriving units found a single family dwelling with active fire showing from all sides and immediately went to work.
Tanker 59 (Hicks) was on the street immediately after dispatch and upon arrival assisted with supplying water to the scene. Engine 59-2 (Carson), Rescue 59 (Williams) and Squad 59-1 (Shoemaker) were on the street minutes later and upon arrival crews of all three units were sent to manpower staging. Throughout the incident, the 59 crews assisted with fire attack, salvage and overhaul operations. Crews worked on scene for several hours with the last of the 59 units clearing at 19:35 hours.
Special thanks to Engine 89-3 (Robert Fulton) for standing by in our firehouse while the volunteers were out on the assist.
Command: Chief 5 (Stoltzfus)
