"A" Shift Assists Company 54 on Mid Day Chicken House Fire

Saturday, November 30, 2013 - Wednesday afternoon at 14:11 hours, the Refton Volunteers were alerted as part of the first alarm assignment to assist Company 54 (Lampeter) on a reported Barn Fire at Spring Hollow Road and Strasburg Pike in West Lampeter Township.  Upon response of initial units, Communications advised of a 400 foot Poultry House reported to be on fire.  Engine 54-2 arrived minutes later with smoke showing on the "C" (Charlie) Side.  Quick attack by the first in crews stopped the fire and saved the Poultry House.

Tanker 59 (Ibach) responded in under a minute of dispatch.  Upon arrival supplied Tanker 5 (Strasburg) and was to be part of the water shuttle.  Engine 59-2 (Adsitt) made the response minutes later and upon arrival assisted with fire attack and overhaul operations.  Rescue 59 (Hammel) made the response just after Engine 59-2 and took in the Fill Site Assignment at H.C. Rineer & Sons.

Crews operated on scene around two hours before returning.
