August 12, 2011 - Throughout the last year, the Refton Community Fire Company has been doing numerous projects around the station and the property to freshen the look and update utilities and related where necessary.  Some of the more recent projects of interest include:
  • Enclosing the pavilion, adding garage doors and putting up new vinyl siding.  This project was a accomplished thru a joint partnership between the Fire Company and the Auxiliary.
  • The day room/lounge where the volunteers hang out and relax received a fresh coat of paint on the walls, the ceiling lights were upgraded to CFL (Compact Florcents) that are much brighter and use only a fraction of the electric as compared to traditional lightbulbs and replaced the flooring with new laminate flooring.  The furniture was also replaced with brand new furniture that was donated by Interiors 2000.  The volunteers spent nights and weekends chipping away at this until everything was completed.  Special thanks to Interiors 2000 for their generous donation.
  • The most recent project occurred last month with the repaving of the alley way leading into the firehouse (which is also known as Broad Street), the back parking lot of the firehouse and the adjoining parking area that is owned by Quality Stone.  With generous donations and cooperation from the Strasburg Township Supervisors, Quality Stone and bordering neighbors; the Fire Company was able to budget and complete this project that has been in the making for a number of years.  For those who are familiar with the area, the alley way was extremely rough on vehicles, full of potholes and a nightmare to maintain.  With the completion of this project, it will be a lot easier to maintain, look a lot better and provide more parking for events.  Special thanks to Strasburg Township Supervisors, Quality Stone, our surrounding neighbors and Andy Leacock Paving for helping us complete this particular project.
